Welcome to my first episode of 'On the Brink' radio recorded on my beloved Aotea, or Great Barrier Island, since last November when a freak gravitational encounter caused by a bicycle accident hospitalized me for several weeks, brought me into contact with many dozens of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet anywhere, and propelled me into an on-going 'unplanned shamanic initiation' and healing process, one dimension of which has been an enhanced empathic understanding of what a whale or dolphin must feel like when they strand and/or have been struck by an unguarded boat propellor.
In this show, recorded atop my local power spot called Memory Island, I reflect on what the Hopi native Americans call 'koyaanisqatsi', or 'life out of balance', and how it is only healed through the 'Day of Purification.' I speculate that the 'mechanism' of the next 'DOP' may well be a planetary cataclysm caused by a cometary impact.
I also honour Aotea ('the dawn') as the closest place to a home that I may ever have had, and the most special part of New Zealand, an as-yet still relatively undisrupted remnant of the Aotearoa of yesteryear, unscarred and unravaged by commercialization and industry, very much worth fighting to protect.
And I honour and thank my lovely friend Tim Lynch, producer of his own radio show 'GreenplanetFM' for well over a decade. In the extent and depth of his dedication and commitment to information activism, he may be nearly as truly crazy and extreme as both Jules Stanly of ucy.tv and myself! :)
